Workflow Blockout Exercise

In this exercise, I am utilizing fundamental level design principles and appropriate metrics to develop a simple blockout level using the provided image as a reference.

Goal:
  • Use essential level design principles and appropriate metrics when creating blockouts, while simultaneously being able to familiarize with the fundamental features of Unreal Engine 5.

Project Details:
  • ENGINE: Unreal Engine 5

  • LANGUAGE: Blueprints

  • DURATION: 1 Week

  • TEAM SIZE: Solo project

Learnings:

1. Concept of Utility and Denial of Space

2. Setting up Unreal Engine 5 to implement a simple blockout that can be quickly iterated

3. Concept of landmarks and focal points

4. Setting up color-coded materials to help with blockout design

5. Establish asset metrics correctly
